McKinley Community Outreach Center is a faith-based organization. It grew out of the desire of the Willoughby United Methodist Church to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in the community. Working closely with the Body of Christ Church, which was already conducting the Caring Hearts Tax- able Items program, a vision was born.
In the Fall of 2012 discussion began with the Willoughby School Board to take over McKinley Elementary School after it closed.
May 14, 2013, that vision became reality and the newly formed McKinley Community Outreach Center non-profit organization moved into the old school.
For the next six weeks, hundreds of hours of volunteer time went into cleaning, painting, moving furniture, printing materials, and preparing the building for the Grand Opening on June 29, 2013.
Immaculate Conception Parish moved its Society of Mother Teresa Food Pantry to MCOC on July 7, 2014 and expanded its coverage from just Willoughby residents to all of Western Lake County
With six years under our belt, McKinley Community Outreach Center continues to look for ways to serve!
