McKinley Community Outreach Center is a faith-based organization.
It grew out of an existing outreach to the needy of western lake county located on the grounds of the Body of Christ Community in Willoughby and called the Caring Hearts Ministry. In 2011, the Willoughby United Methodist Church joined forces with the Body of Christ Community and formed am agreement with the Willoughby-Eastlake School District to take over the recently closed McKinley Elementary School on Lost Nation Road.
On June 29, 2013, after much preparation, the Grand Opening of this Outreach Center took place with the added involvement of more churches in the area as well as many other people of good will who were committed to the care of the needy in the area.
The purpose of McKinley is –
To work alongside of existing outreaches in Western Lake County to better coordinate helpful services to the less fortunate.
To offer a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere in which people can receive assistance with their daily needs for food, clothing, hygiene items, household goods, and other personal needs.
To offer an ongoing opportunity for people in the area to serve the needs of their Lake County neighbors.
To be the Hands and Feet of Jesus to anyone who needs to experience God’s care for them.
